TOP STORY: Bayern and Man City for De Jong

According to Calciomercato, Bayern Munich and Manchester City are interested Frenkie De Jong, a Barcelona midfielder.

According to the report, the two league champions are following the 24-year-old who has a contract at Camp Nou until 2026.

Bayern were rumored to be interested in the move. Manchester City were also linked to a move for the midfielder in the past, according to reports. Raheem Sterling, a winger, has been rumoured to be interested in a switch to Spain.

The Netherlands' international De Jong joined Catalan in 2019 at a reported value of more than 70 million. He has been a part of over 100 matches in Barcelona's shirt since then, scoring nine goals and fifteen assists.

After a difficult few months, Ronald Koeman's team has had a tough start in the league. They were also affected by the news about the club's financial crisis. They had to let go of Antoine Griezmann, and were unable to renew Lionel Messi's contract.

They are currently ranked ninth in the highly contested top half LaLiga. Real Madrid lost 2-1 to them in El Clasico on Saturday.

De Jong's injury in the match will not be a positive for the club. He was forced to retire in the 77th minutes of the match due to a right-hamstring strain. His return to the team is uncertain.
