Elon Musk says 'issues' have forced Tesla to pull its latest full self-driving beta

Tesla's latest Full Self-Driving beta software 10.3 was pulled soon after its release. TechCrunch reported that Musk, the CEO, cited "some issues" in tweet. Musk stated that one of the issues is "regression" in left turns. However, testers have reported about phantom forward collision warnings and autosteer bugs. According to The Verge, although the FSD was supposedly reverted back to version 10.2, some users claimed that they don't have access to FSD at any time.
According to Reddit's release notes, FSD 10.3 has a variety of new features. FSD Profiles allow drivers to modify vehicle behavior such as rolling stops, lane changes and following distance. Other benefits include increased creeping speed and reduced false slowdowns. They also allow for improved estimation of crossing object velocity.

Testers have noticed in multiple videos that FSD was showing Forward Collision Warnings, despite not being in danger. Other bugs include AutoPilot panic, traffic aware cruise control (TACC), and AutoPilot problems.

Musk tweeted that such issues can be expected when using beta software. He also stated that it was impossible to test all hardware configurations under all conditions with internal quality assurance, so public tests are required. FSD 10.2 was delayed because of "last-minute concerns" regarding the update.

The FSD program will be under more scrutiny after Musk's comments regarding public beta testing and the pullback. NHTSA already asked Tesla for more information about the public beta. They stated that Tesla must address "basic safety concerns" before it expands further. Tesla has also been asked by regulators for information on its safety score ratings, which determine eligibility for the FSD program.

Regulators also worry that although Tesla drivers can opt in to the beta program, pedestrians and drivers around the area cannot. Tesla vehicles equipped with 10.3 software could have collided with another vehicle following them, if they had not automatically braked.

The name is misleading, much like Autopilot. FSD doesn't offer complete self-driving but only advanced driver assistance.
