Lakers' LeBron James says right leg sore after injury scare, hopes to play Tuesday with 'around the clock' treatment

LOS ANGELES -- In Sunday's 121-118 win, the Los Angeles Lakers were barely able to escape the Memphis Grizzlies. LeBron James may have narrowly avoided another serious injury.
Desmond Bane, Grizzlies forward collided with James in the first period. James fell to the ground. L.A. called timeout to allow the medical staff to check on James, who remained there for several more minutes.

James was in a similar situation to the one that he suffered last season from a high right ankle strain when Solomon Hill, the Atlanta Hawks' star, crashed into his lower body while trying to steal a ball. He was forced to miss 26 games due to the injury and his recovery didn't occur until several months later.

James stated that James was the first to think of James afterward. "Because it was obviously almost the same, but not the exact same type of play. Guy fell into my leg, and there is nothing you can do. I couldn't save my leg in time.

James was able to stay in the game this time and finished the game with 19 points, six boards, six assists, two steals, and two blocks.

Dwight Howard attempted to block Bane’s finger-roll attempt at 6:27 in the second quarter. After bumping into bodies with the Lakers' center, the shot hit the net. Bane then fell to the ground. James was looking at the rim while he attempted to rebound and didn't see Bane sliding toward his leg.

James expressed concern about the moment following contact. "Had a chance to tie my shoe once more and see if it was still possible to go. I was able continue to go."

According to the 19-year-old veteran, his leg was sore after the game. However, he said he would continue to get "around the clock" treatment for Tuesday's game against the San Antonio Spurs.

James stated, "Hopefully I'm ready for it."
