Mohamed Salah scored a hat-trick as Liverpool beat Manchester United 5-0 at Old Trafford, on Sunday. This put pressure on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, United manager.

United was four goals behind at halftime, their largest ever margin of defeat at this stage in their history. They looked disjointed when Salah and Diogo Jota both scored.

Salah scored his third goal in the second period, just before Paul Pogba was sent to jail for dangerous tackle.

Salah stated after the game, "It is great to win 5-1 here. We knew it would be difficult if we didn't play our game."

"We knew they would come and give everything so we had to give our 100%. We just tried to play football and to be creative to make more chances. We did that, and we were fortunate to score.

"As long the team keeps winning, I'm happy. To give my best to the team for victory."

After just four minutes Bruno Fernandes had a chance to open scoring for United, but he blew over the crossbar.

Liverpool scored a goal in response to the scare on United's poor defense. It was five minutes later that Luke Shaw attempted to mark Salah Keita, Andy Robertson and Salah. Salah chose to play with Keita who smashed the ball past David de Gea.

United committed poorer defending 13 minutes later when Trent Alexander-Arnold crossed low into the box, and Jota stretched out to score it.

Salah scored his first goal in 38 minutes, with a sidefoot pass by De Gea. His second came five minutes later with a brilliant strike from the corner.

Five minutes into the second period, the Egypt international had completed his hat-trick. He is now the highest-scoring African player of Premier League history with three goals, surpassing Didier Drogba, who was formerly a Chelsea forward.

Harry Maguire, United captain, said that he was so disappointed. He stated that he had given them so many opportunities. "They were so clinical. We had a lot chances ourselves, but I'm a defender, and to concede four goals in the first period, especially at Old Trafford is not good enough."

"I know myself as a player. I will be looking at my performance and myself.

"We must stick together, it is not a good idea to blame each other. But, look at yourself. Tonight, look in the mirror and see where you can improve.

Cristiano Ronaldo thought that he had scored one for United after 52 minutes. However, VAR replays revealed that he was offside during the build-up and the goal was disallowed.

United's day turned sour when Pogba was sent to the stands at the hour mark to face a studs up challenge on Keita. He had to be taken off the pitch.

Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool manager, said that he didn't expect a result of 5-0.

Klopp stated, "Pressing high and winning balls, scored fantastic goals." "I told them to play better at halftime. We played football for a while, and then we started to do well. After the fifth quarter, we controlled the game. It wasn't about scoring more points, but trying to avoid more injuries.

"The result was insane. I asked if there were any like it in history. If there is, it will take some time. The book was a great success. Although it is special, we don't celebrate too much and we respect our opponents. While we were fortunate in some moments, United is not at their best.
