New York Jets QB Zach Wilson leaves game with injured knee

FOXBOROUGH (Mass.) New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson was injured in the knee. He limped to Gillette Stadium's locker room during the second quarter against the New England Patriots.
Wilson, the 2nd overall pick in 2021's NFL draft, was examined before he left the field with medical personnel by his side. Later, he was ruled out of the game.

The Jets did not immediately reveal which Wilson's knee was injured. When Matt Judon, a linebacker, landed on Wilson as he attempted to pass downfield, the rookie quarterback fell awkwardly. It was ruled defensive play interference in the end zone.

Wilson's teammates looked concerned and motioned for trainers immediately. Mike White replaced Wilson, making his NFL debut. He completed his first touchdown pass.

Wilson suffered an unintentional fall in front of the Jets' sideline just moments before the injury. Lawrence Guy, the defensive tackle, was chasing Wilson and dived at his knees. Wilson's left knee seemed to be bent in the wrong direction. Wilson appeared to have landed on his left knee after throwing an incomplete pass. Guy didn't seem to be hurt, but Wilson's bounce made it difficult for Guy's sideline.

Wilson completed six of 10 passes for 51 yard in his sixth career start. He was intercepted four time in his previous start against Patriots.

Jonnu Smith, Patriots tight end, was injured in the shoulder and was also out of Sunday's game.
