Hannah Gutierrez-Reed's father is a well-known armorer. She said she wasn’t sure if Hannah was ready for her first job.
Thursday's shooting at "Rust," resulted in Halyna Hutchins, a cinematographer, being killed, and Joel Souza being injured.

Metro reported that Hannah Gutierrez–Reed, 24, said she nearly turned down the job as head armorer because she wasn’t sure if it was right for her.
Gutierrez-Reed is the daughter of Thell Reed, a veteran Hollywood armorer. She stated on Voices Of The West that Rust was her second film as a head armourer.
She was just finishing filming "The Old Way" alongside Clint Howard, Nicolas Cage. She said that it was a great way to begin a long and exciting career.
Gutierrez-Reed stated that it was also the first time he had been head armorer. "I nearly turned down the job, as I wasn't sure I was up for it. But, it was so easy to do it.
Gutierrez-Reed said that loading blanks was something she was initially afraid of. She said that loading blanks was the most frightening thing she had ever done. "It was scary because I was afraid of it," she explained. She said that her father was a famous man who helped her learn.

Halyna Hutchins (42), was the film's director-of-photography. Baldwin accidentally fired a prop gun. Joel Souza, the director of photography, was also hurt. According to an affidavit Baldwin was given the gun by an assistant director who stated that it was a "cold gun", according to the New York Times. This refers to a gun without live ammunition.

Insider reported that an armorer was interviewed by police as a witness after the shooting. It is unclear if the armorer was Gutierrez or Reed.
