Everton 2-5 Watford: Joshua King hat-trick for Claudio Ranieri's side

Last update on. From the section Premier League
King was a Everton player last season. He made 11 appearances, but failed to score.

Joshua King's hat trick helped Watford win a remarkable first victory under Claudio Ranieri, as Everton fell in a thrilling Premier League match at Goodison Park.

Tom Davies gave the hosts the lead early on, but Watford equalised from close range before King's break.

Richarlison, a former Hornets striker, put Everton ahead once more but Juraj Kucka’s header brought Watford level.

King, who failed to score for Everton in the first half 2021, scored twice within six minutes, before Emmanuel Dennis made an amazing comeback.

Watford had never been victorious at Goodison before this match. Ranieri, however, has fonder memories of Everton trips. This was Ranieri's fifth consecutive victory at the ground.

Rafael Benitez, Everton's former Liverpool manager, suffered a second defeat at home and there were boos when Richarlison replaced Anthony Gordon.

The Brazilian diver struck with a great diving header three minutes after he arrived on the field. Benitez saw his lead disappear in the final 10 minutes, leaving his side in eighth.

After starting their life under Ranieri, Watford was defeated by Liverpool in a crushing defeat. They then rose to 14th place, putting them well clear of the relegation zone.

Toffees are tentatively sting by Hornets

After three minutes, Davies made Demarai Gray's cross from close range into a conversion. It looked like another tough day for Ranieri against Merseyside opposition after their 5-0 defeat at Vicarage Road last week.

However, Everton were unable to continue their momentum and were cautious. Watford attacked the home team in spite of having only 76 shots in the Premier League before this match.

Referee Graham Scott initially dismissed King's equalizer as offside, but after looking at the pitchside monitor, he changed his mind because Gray had just played King side.

Watford rallied following Richarlison’s goal. Ranieri immediately brought on Dennis and Joao. Kucka then got the visitors back to level terms with a strong header from Cucho Hernandez’s corner.

Ranieri's substitutions sparked late drama. Dennis' cross found King with enough space and time to stabilize himself for his second, before the pair connected again when King kept his head inside the box to claim his hat trick.

Dennis' Premier League career has been a success, despite Watford’s difficulties. Dennis scored his third goal of this season, after Pedro assisted him. Large sections of the home crowd headed for the exits.
