Arsenal 3-1 Aston Villa: Gunners hit three past lacklustre Villa

Last update on.From section Premier League
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexis Sanchez, and Thierry Henry are the other three Premier League goalscorers for Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta, Arsenal's boss, has praised Emile Rowe for his change of lifestyle after the 21 year-old midfielder helped Gunners win over Aston Villa to move into the top half the Premier League table.

Thomas Partey smashed the ball into Smith Rowe's corner, his first goal for Gunners after he had previously hit the crossbar.

Arsenal received a penalty for a Matt Targett foul against Alexandre Lacazette at the end the first period.

Emiliano Martinez, an ex-Arsenal keeper, saved Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s penalty well. However, the Gabon striker scored the rebound from close range.

Villa played better in the second half after a terrible first half. However, Smith Rowe scored Arsenal's third goal just 11 minutes into the second period.

He won the ball in his half, and then completed the move with a deflection at the post.

Jacob Ramsey, the first Villa goal scorer, scored from 20 yards. It was a consolation for the visitors. Although they put up some pressure, the visitors had a few chances at scoring in the final stages. However, it was too late.

Villa received two bids from Smith Rowe, the England Under-21 international Smith Rowe. Arteta said that he wasn't worried about him leaving the Emirates Stadium.

Smith Rowe has now scored two goals and assisted two others this season. Arteta is pleased with the progress of the academy graduate.

He stated that "When you want the game to go the next level, when your become an important player in a large club, that should be your only priority. Every detail should be relevant."

He has learned that you can't give away percentages that could make big changes and that you must make him aware of this.

"He is not complaining. He is looking forwards.

It didn't look like two teams sat next to one another in the table. However, Arsenal was 12th and Villa was 13th before kickoff.

Arsenal can produce good spells, like Monday's draw with Crystal Palace at the beginning. They also have good games like the 3-1 win against Tottenham.

This was a good game, at least for the 80 minutes.

Aston Villa was the exact opposite of their 3-2 defeat to Wolves. They lost the game in the last 10 minutes, but that was when they had their best chance.

The first time that Arsenal has played against a team in the league since May 2018, they failed to score a goal in the first period.

The Gunners should be out of sight. Partey had seen them from close range before leading them into the lead.

Martinez made many smart saves and Aubameyang's goal was disallowed because of a Lacazette foul.

Arsenal received the second goal they deserved in the first-half injury period. Although Craig Pawson was thought to be whistling for half time, the fact is that he was actually stopping play to consult with VARs.

Targett was about clearing the ball when Lacazette stepped over him and draw a foul instead. Aubameyang won the penalty at the second attempt.

Villa looked more dangerous when they brought in Leon Bailey, a winger, to replace Axel Tuanzebe at the half-time break. But Smith Rowe won it after a couple of attempts.

It looked so until Ramsey scored what was the game's best goal. Bailey, Ramsey, and Ollie Watkins all had opportunities to score for Villa, but couldn't create a tension-filled finale.

Arsenal 3-1 Aston Villa Dean Smith laments Villa's first-half performance

Smith is 'confused' by penalty

Dean Smith, manager of Aston Villa, told BBC Sport that the first half was physically dominated. The second half is mine. However, I don't think we will be physically dominated. It is impossible to give Premier League teams an advantage.

"We knew Arsenal would begin quickly, but we let them control the first half.

"I am confused about this penalty. Before the season, we spoke long about the lower-contact frivolous penalty.

"I've only seen it once, and I can't figure out if he touches the ball first or second. We might not get a penalty if we look at it for so long.
