Krafton, its publisher, announced today that PUBG: New State will be available on iOS and Android starting November 11th. The futuristic PUBG game will be set in 2051 and offer new features such as weapon customization and in-game drones. New State will launch in 17 languages and more than 200 countries.
New State marks a major launch for the PUBG Series, which became a popular battle royale game genre in 2017 with its first title. New State is not the first mobile entry for PUBG, but it follows the launch of PUBGMobile in 2018. Tencent, a Chinese tech giant, was responsible for the development of PUBG Mobile.
Promised strong anti-cheat measures
PUBG Studios insists that New State will have strong anti-cheat policies at launch. The company will also be closely monitoring the community to identify problems before they become too widespread. Motherboard reported earlier this year that a cheating group made more than $70 million by selling cheats for PUBG mobile. These problems are not unique to PUBG. Activision, Valve and other companies have been making headlines recently for their efforts to stop cheating in games and hardware.
New State, like previous PUBG games is centered on multiplayer matches. One player or a squad can win a map. Up to 100 players can enter it. At launch in New State there will be four maps, including the franchise classic Erangel. PUBG Studios promises to keep it updated with new content throughout time.
Bloomberg reported that Krafton will release another PUBG-related title for consoles and PC by next year. A new survival horror game in PUBG's future is also in development, and will be released in 2022.
