iFixit took a peek underneath the Apple Watch Series 7’s larger display

Dieter Bohn praised the Apple Watch Series 7 as the best smartwatch. However, he noted that the changes in the new models are smaller year-over-year than expected. Even these small improvements needed some reengineering. To recognize those efforts, iFixit teamed with ex-Apple engineers to examine the new parts and gain insight into the process.
Tobias, an ex-apple product designer, is now with Instrumental. In a video, Tobias points out that the Series 7 Apple display had a ribbon cable that combined touch and display signals. This helped reduce the device's bezels. However, Tobias states in a video that he believes that the delay was due to the complexity of the change and the ripples through the supply chain.

The most surprising thing was when the Apple Watch Series 6 battery fit in and works with the newer model.

Another element of the teardown includes what is not in the new Apple Watch, an old diagnostic port. It was hidden in the watch's wristband groove since the early versions. But Apple has now replaced it with wireless technology. This could be a hint that the iPhone will not have ports. Although we don't know yet, the teardown will reveal how the components came together to make this device less likely to crack, more resistant to dust, water and just a little better than the Series 6.
