Microsoft today released a new Windows 11 update that addresses some AMD CPU performance issues. AMD and Microsoft discovered two issues in Windows 11 on Ryzen processors. One caused L3 cache latency up to triple, and the other slowed down performance by as much as 15% in some games. Microsoft has now fixed this issue with Windows 11 Build 222000.282, which is available as an optional update to Windows Update for all Windows 11 users.
These issues were made worse by the Windows 11 last update. Today's patch should address them on the L3 cache latency front. AMD's preferred core technology is the second issue. This shifts threads to the fastest core of a processor. AMD claims that this second bug could affect performance on CPU-reliant tasks and has released a driver to fix it.
The new Windows 11 update includes many fixes. One of these fixes is to prevent the Start menu from opening after an OS upgrade. Another fix addresses input delays for certain Bluetooth keyboards and mice. The full list of fixes included in this patch can be found at Microsofts website.
