College Lacrosse Player Dead At 20 After Hot Dog Eating Contest Accident

Tufts University's 20-year old lacrosse player died after collapsing during a hotdog eating contest.
Madelyn Nicpon, a junior member of the Jumbos' lax team, was taking part in an off-campus competition eating event when it went horribly wrong.

According to The Journal News, Nicpon was reported to have fallen unconscious from choking and was taken to hospital by first responders.

Nicpon died tragically on Sunday, just one day after his funeral.

"In the face this pain loss," school officials stated in a statement that "our hearts go out Madie's family members and friends."

Many students gathered on campus to grieve Nicpon's death shortly after she died Sunday night. They surrounded her jersey with candles, and remembered her fondly.

The Tufts lax team posted on Instagram that they were "deeply saddened" to announce the death of junior Madie Nicpon. "Scooter was a friend and a teammate. She was a true friend and coach to her teammates.

"Her reach was beyond our team. She was a true connector and touched every person she met."

Scooter was also a part of the group. Keep dancing high up."

Nicpon, who had participated in many games her first two years with the Jumbos was expected to contribute this season.
