Uncharted's First Trailer Sees Tom Holland Hanging on for Dear Life

Mark Wahlberg and Tom Holland have held on to Uncharted for many years. Wahlberg, who was cast as Nathan Drake, has now been aging out of that role to become Drake's mentor Scully. Holland reached the cliff in 2017 only to be put in mortal peril. What will they find now that Uncharted's first trailer is out? Are they going to find treasure... or another deadly trap?

The Uncharted movie is a prequel for the video games. This is why Nathan Drake's rough and tumble visage has been replaced with the adorable 25-year old Holland. One thing Drake has lost is his constant mortal danger. This could be from ancient booby traps or collapsing bridges. Or the many shadowy organizations that want to kill him. Which inevitably means Drake leads the bad guys to any treasure they desire. Young Nathan Drake is likely to be even more shrewd about this.

Uncharted finally got a trailer for the movie in 13 years. Avi Avid, the producer, had in 2008 announced that Uncharted would be adapted into a movie. The first game was released the year before. Despite the release of eight additional Uncharted videogames, the movie went through so many scripts, casts, and edits that it seemed like it would never make it out of movie development hell. Even after Holland joined, however. Between now and the movie's ostensible premiere on February 18, 2022 there is still time for disaster to strike.
