England Lions: Dom Sibley pulls out of Ashes shadow squad to work on batting

Sibley's average in Tests against India was 14.25, the summer before he was dropped

Dom Sibley, the opener, has been removed from the England Lions squad to tour Australia this winter.

The 26-year old was included in the 14-strong squad that will support the main England Ashes party.

England says that Sibley, Warwickshire's batsman, has made the decision to practice his batting at home in an effort to be relegated to the Test team.

The Lions have added Harry Brook, a Yorkshire batter, to their squad.

Sibley played 22 Tests with a batting average 28.94. This figure dropped to 19.77 in 2021.

He was dropped by England in the India series this summer and, earlier this month, he lost his central contract.

The Lions will serve as warm-up opposition to England in two games prior to the Ashes. In case of injury, the reserves will have the players.

They will also play against Australia A for four days before returning home on December 16.
