At a Newcastle match, Alan George Smith fell.
A Newcastle fan's family said that he was "making great strides" after his collapse at Sunday's Premier League match against Tottenham.
Play was stopped while Alan George Smith, 80 (CPR) was administered and he was taken to the hospital.
Eric Dier, a Tottenham player, and Sergio Reguilon, a Tottenham official were praised for their alertness to officials and medics.
Paul Smith, the son of Mr Smith, said that "We are happy to advise that Alan has made great progress."
"[He] is now fully awake and can be seen walking around. He will be in hospital for the next few days as further tests are performed. We, his family, want to thank Don Williamson, his friend who was there at the time and alerted everyone about his condition.
We also want to pay tribute to the CPR doctors and nurses, the paramedics of North East Ambulance Service, St John's Ambulance and fans, and the medical staff at Freeman Hospital and RVI. We are forever grateful.
"We also want to thank all those who have wished Alan luck on social media, as well as the staff and players of Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur. We are especially grateful to Jamaal Lascelles for sending a personal message. It meant so much for Alan.
"He looks forward to returning to St. James Park as soon as possible."
Dr Tom Prichard was a fan near the incident and spoke about his involvement with BBC Breakfast.
He stated, "It all happened so fast. I was sitting in the Gallowgate End when I noticed that something was going on. Fans called over first-aiders, stewards, and there was a woman performing CPR on someone.
"As an A&E physician, I was able to lend a helping hand to see if I could help."
Supporters at the stand alerted the players to the situation, and Reguilon spoke with referee Andre Marriner. Dier informed medics and asked them to bring a defibrillator.
After being taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Mr Smith was transferred to Freeman Hospital for specialist treatment.
