Modern Age wants to empower people to control their own aging journey.
Modern Age recognizes that aging is inevitable. However, it wants to make you age more healthy.
Melissa Eamer is the founder of the company. She was previously vice president at Amazon, and COO at Glossier.
She sees longevity as a personal aspect of her life. As her parents grew older, she noticed the differences between her mother's and her mothers friends. This led her to think about how some people can thrive and others may decline quickly in the second half.
Eamer said that she can control her genes and environment. However, Eamer went to business school in the hope of pursuing long-term nursing. It was difficult to find a company that required an MBA to work for long-term health care. Amazon provided her with the tools to be a customer-focused professional and use technology to solve problems.
Modern Age is committed to helping people live longer and healthier lives by providing digital tools that help them understand their aging options. This includes telemedicine, in-person treatment, and telemedicine. Eamer discovered research that suggests you live longer if you feel younger.
She said that this got me thinking about how health and wellness can help you manage your feelings. There are many spot solutions, such as going to the dermatologist to treat age spots. But there are not many companies that can connect the dots between nutrition, sleep and all the factors, including nutrition, sleep, metabolism, hair, skin, bones, and fitness. These data points aren't very well understood by humans, but computers are and we can use that to build something amazing.
To determine their age and the most important areas of their health and well-being, users begin by taking a questionnaire. The company will initially launch in the areas skin, hair, and hormones.
Eamer stated that signs of aging can be seen in hair and skin as early as your 30s. This is when most people start losing bone mass. Eamer believes this is something that is often not discussed. Eamer also states that hormones can affect your energy levels. There is often misinformation and lack of information about this, such as the fact that women may not realize that low testosterone can cause fatigue.
Juxtapose and GV are also participating in the round. Juxtapose was the founding partner of the company, giving it a seed round in 2020 to bring its total funding up to $33million.
We see Modern Age, much like our other successes, such as Tend Dental and Care/of, as an opportunity to use technology in a way which creates a hyperpersonalized experience for customers. This can lead to better resource utilization and patient care. Jed Cairo, cofounder and managing partner at Juxtapose said via email.
Modern Ages' flagship clinic in New York's Flatiron district will receive a large share of the new funding. It is expected that it will open in 2022. The company will also invest in technology development, customer engagement, and talent.
Earner estimates that the company will have 50 employees by 2022, including staff at the clinic. The clinic will be staffed by its own physicians and medical staff. She will also be hiring a chief physician officer to assist her.
Annie Lamont, Oak HC/FT's co-founder and managing Partner, stated that the science of longevity remains in its early stages, and will continue to be a major investment area. Rosita Longevity, Gero AI, and Longevica were all recently in the news for their innovative approaches and their ability to attract funding.
Lamont said that Eamer is extremely experienced and grounded in science and wants to create a company that brings clarity to consumers in order to be a trustworthy entity and credible voice on the topic of long-term planning.
She said that there are fragmented attempts at the moment. And how people feel also matters as much as science. Modern Age might not offer all the services, but it will provide a space to discover the truth about both virtual and physical space. It will also have evolving services.
