THE COLONY (Texas) -- Police said that Damontae Kazee, a Dallas Cowboys safety, was arrested Tuesday morning on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
The Colony police Sergeant. Aaron Woodard stated that Kazee was charged with a Class B misdemeanor. Woodard stated that Kazee was released at midday after posting $2,500 bond.
Kazee was stopped in the suburb near Frisco, which is the home of the team's headquarters located about 30 miles north-east of Dallas. Kazee, who signed as a free agent, is now in his first season with Cowboys.
The Cowboys have won five straight games since the 28-year-old started six of their six games. Dallas is not at the game this week. The next game will be against Minnesota on Oct. 31.
Coach Mike McCarthy stated Monday that he spoke to players about their intelligence during the bye and informed them that they wouldn't have any practices this week.
McCarthy stated, "Talked to each other about distractions and what we don’t want." "We have an excellent season, 5-1. Make sure everyone is taking care of their health and spending as much time with family and friends as possible. They are owed it. They are due this long-deserved break. They have my trust and confidence."
Kazee was Atlanta's fifth-round draft pick for his first four seasons. He played 34 of 52 games with Atlanta. His arrival in Dallas coincided his departure from Atlanta, where he was the coach for five seasons.
The Cowboys did not comment on Kazee’s arrest. His agent did not immediately return a message requesting comment.
