ICC Men's T20 World Cup at Al Amerat Cricket Ground in Oman Scotland 165-9 (20 runs): Berrington 70 (49) and Cross 45 (36); Morea 431 Papua New Guinea 148 (19.3overs) Vanua 47 (37); Davey 4-18 Scotland won with 17 runs Scorecard

With a second win in three day, Scotland made a significant step towards qualifying for Super 12s of the Men's T20 World Cup.

Scotland beat Bangladesh by 17 runs in Al Amerat (Oman), after shocking Bangladesh on the first day of the tournament.

Richie Berrington scored 70 from 49 balls, and Matt Cross scored 45 from 36 in Scotland’s 165-9.

PNG fell to 35-5, before being bowled out for just 148 in the final over.

PNG lost to Bangladesh, ending their hopes of reaching the next round. However, Scotland (who is at the top of Group B) will still be able to progress if Oman defeats Bangladesh in the 15:00 BST match at the same venue.

If Bangladesh wins, a victory by Scotland over Oman on Thursday would make them group winners.

Scotland lost openers Kyle Coetzer, George Munsey and George Munsey. They fell to 26-2 before Cross and Berrington formed a partnership of 92, which gave them an opportunity to attack.

Six fours and three sixes were hit by Berrington, one of which was 97m long. This made it Scotland's first half century at a T20 World Cup.

Callum McLeod and he were both dismissed in the 19th Over. Then, four wickets, including three of the final three balls, fell in the last over.

PNG lost to 35-5 in their first World Cup match, but a 32-run win between Sese Bau, Vanua and the scoreboard stabilized the ship.

Norman Vanua made 47 of 37 deliveries and Kiplin Doriga took 46 in three overs to revive PNG’s hopes and make them need 46 balls from the remaining 24.

Mark Watt, a left-arm spinner, pushed Dorgia to 18 before Somerset's Josh Davey finished with 4-18 T20 best figures. Chad Soper and Vanua were close behind.
