The UK government will offer a grant of 5000 to households in England and Wales to purchase low-carbon heating systems. This is a significant first step towards ending Britain's dependence on fossil fuels to keep warm. The government also plans to ban the sale and use of new gas boilers by 2035.

About 86 percent of UK homes use gas boilers, which means heating and hot water for homes generates over a fifth.
