Jimbo Fisher dismisses talk of LSU job, plans on 'fulfilling this contract' as Texas A&M coach

Jimbo Fisher recognizes that LSU has a head coach vacancy and expresses his desire for Texas A&M to continue. (1:04).
Fisher: "I plan to finish my entire contract at Texas A&M" (1:04).

Jimbo Fisher, Texas A&M's football coach, tried to dispel rumors that he might leave for LSU. He told reporters Monday that "we are in the process building something great" and that "I plan on being there and fulfilling this contract."

Fisher's remarks came just days after Ed Orgeron, LSU coach, announced an agreement to end the season.

The long-standing relationship Fisher had with Scott Woodward, who was the former Texas A&M athletic chief and Fisher's College Station counterpart at LSU, fuelled speculation about Fisher replacing Orgeron.

Both Fisher and Woodward have strong ties to LSU. Both were in LSU together in 2000, Fisher as the offensive coordinator and Woodward the director of external affairs.

Fisher's contract is good through 2031. It does not have a penalty for him leaving. Fisher said that Woodward and he are close friends and talk often, but he doesn't plan on a reunion.

Fisher stated that he enjoys Texas A&M, and that he is happy with his contract. He also said that he appreciates Texas A&M's administration. Fisher said, "My family has roots in Texas A&M."

"Listen, that's because there's nothing there. There's nothing happening at LSU." He said, "I don't mean to be disrespectful to anybody else." "I was there as a coach [at LSU]. It was a wonderful place. We won the national championships. It's one of America's best places. It is a beautiful place."

Fisher said, however, that she loves A&M and plans to continue being there.

Fisher, who receives more than $9million annually from Texas A&M was a good-natured individual, but clearly frustrated by the method of questioning.

He said, "I ain’t commenting on it," at one point. "I'm done dealing with that stuff. "I don't know what I can add."

Texas A&M has just won back-to-back victories against Missouri and No. 4 Alabama. On Saturday, the 17th-ranked Aggies will host South Carolina.
