The mRNA technology behind covid-19 vaccines can transform medicine

Despite the destruction caused by the coronavirus pandemic there is at least one piece of good news: the success rate of mRNA vaccines.

Moderna and BioNTech vaccines from Pfizer were created in record time. They have proven to be extremely effective. These vaccines are saving lives but this is only the beginning of something bigger.

The same approach could be used to develop better vaccines for many other diseases, even those for which there is no current inoculation. We should be able, when the next pandemic strikes, to get more people vaccinated than we currently are.
