Dan Barden, Norwich goalkeeper, has been diagnosed as having testicular cancer.

The Welshman, aged 20, is currently on loan to Livingston in the Scottish Premiership. He will soon be taking a break.

He had follow-up testing and will continue to be closely monitored throughout his treatment program.

"The prognosis has been good and the next steps are positive. I am optimistic and maintain a positive outlook. I am confident I can beat it, and I will soon be back doing what I love.

Barden, a Wales Under-21 international player, made four appearances for Norwich last season. He also appeared once for Livingston 2021-22.

He said, "It was a very difficult period and challenging but the support of family, friends and coworkers has helped me get through the last few weeks."

"I cannot thank enough the medical staff at Livingston and Norwich, as well the Royal Marsden Hospital.

"The speed with which everything has moved was amazing, but everyone has been absolutely brilliant to me."
