PBS NOVA science series 'Universe Revealed' will explore the cosmos from birth to eventual demise

PBS viewers will have the chance to embark on a spectacular journey through the universe when the network launches a five-part NOVA series titled, "Universe Revealed".
PBS NOVA's new science series will premiere Oct. 27 at 9 p.m. ET (0100 GMT Oct. 28, 2008). Five hour-long episodes, which explore the universe's first moments 13.8billion years ago, to theories about its future trillions of years in the future, will be aired by PBS NOVA.

The new episodes will air Wednesdays at 9 PM ET/8CT. This epic, cosmic series uses CGI imagery and archival footage from space missions. It also includes the most recent research.

NOVA's "Universe Revealed", a series of episodes about the sun and other stars, begins with an episode. The next episodes will focus on the Milky Way galaxy, "Goldilocks Zone" around planets, and the search for extraterrestrials, black holes, and the Big Bang. The animations will show viewers photorealistic renderings of the birth and aftermath of colliding galaxies as well as a star being flung across the universe by a supermassive dark hole.

Gideon Bradshaw, BBC Executive Producer, stated that "Huge advances in scientific understanding of the universe have allowed us be taken to places we didnt even realize existed ten years ago." "With our breakthrough visual effects, we can meet the universe's most fascinating characters and learn how their fates intertwine with ours."

Chris Schmidt, NOVA's executive producer, stated that the series "aims at answering some of the many questions about the ideas of space and time that we curious beings long pondered."

"Universe Revealed", a sequel to NOVA's 2019 series "The Planets", is a five-episode series on the planets of our solar system. The episodes of NOVA's "Universe Revealed", which airs from October 27 through November 24, will be available on NOVA. Five episodes of NOVA Now Universe Revealed, a podcast that builds on the existing NOVA Now podcast hosted and edited by Dr. Alok Patel, will accompany the series.

You can also watch out for future events related to "Universe Revealed", which will be hosted by your local PBS station. NOVA will provide resources for stations to host their own events. Learning materials related to the series will also be created by NOVA for classrooms and virtual field trips.
