Aquaman was once the subject of many superhero jokes. But that all changed when Jason Mamoa, Game of Thrones badass, donned Arthur Currys skin-tight armor and swam through the seven seas in Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom. Until then, you can enjoy this behind-the scenes footage from DCs Fandome.
Although there isn't much to take away from it, some of the concept art is quite wild. I was a little surprised to see Aquaman riding his giant seahorse instead of the sea dragons from the first film.

Although the plot of the sequel directed by James Wan, and written by David Leslie Johnson McGoldrickis currently under wraps we have some good ideas about what's happening. The Lost Kingdom is the name given to Atlantis's portion that vanished after it was submerged in the ocean and divided into seven provinces. Yahya AbdulMateen II, Patrick Wilson, and Ocean Master are back, which is not good news for Arthur. This is just my hypothesis, but I can see how the Lost Kingdom spin-off movie about The Trench could end up with those annoying piranha peoples storyline being merged into Lost Kingdom. They could pose a greater threat overall. Although I would be okay if they were, I'd rather Abdul-Mateen II have more time to flesh-out Black Manta who has always been Aquaman's most villainous character.
Momoa and Abdul-Mateen II are back, as well as Wilson and Wilson. Amber Heard is back as Arthur Curry's love interest, Princess Mera. Dolph Lundgren plays her father King Nereus. Temuera Morrison plays Arthur's human father Thomas Curry. Randall Park plays Dr. Stephen Shin, the marine biologist. Graham McTavish has been replaced by Vincent Regan as Atlan, the ancient first king atlantis. Jani Zhao will portray Stringray, a character created specifically for the movie. Indya Moore will portray Karshon, a villain who is currently a mutated and telepathic shark in comics. Pilou Asbk, Game of Thrones' baddie, will be playing an undisclosed role.
Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom are currently set to premiere on December 16, 2022. Don't forget HBO Max, the adorable animated miniseries which just premiered this week.
