Card Thief

Card Thief is all about stealth. The role of a thief is to stealthily navigate through a deck, collecting treasure and avoiding detection. Exploding Kittens

Matthew Inman, the genius artist behind The Oatmeal, created Exploding Kittens. Your goal is to make your opponents draw cards until you pull an Exploding Kitten Card. They are automatically eliminated from the game if they can't play a Defuse to end the threat. It sounds absurd, doesn't it? It's actually quite fun! It can be described as "kitty-powered Russian Roulette", according to the Play Store listing. Mobile version is fantastic with amazing artwork on every card and incredible animations. Online play allows you to play with up to 5 friends, or even strangers. The best part is that there aren't distracting ads. You can make optional in-app purchases for more content but overall it is a premium title. It's great fun and well worth the laughs.

You can play Gin Rummy against 15 levels of CPU opponents in this game. This is one of the classic card games that I fondly recall from my childhood. This game is great on all devices and I highly recommend it. AI Factory Limited is an app developer that offers 14 mobile versions of classic board and card games. I would like to highlight them more. You have the option to pay $2 for an ad free experience or play ad supported versions of Solitaire, Hearts, and Euchre. Gwent

You'd have read my previous roundups to know that this one was coming. Gwent is my favorite Android card game, mainly because I love The Witcher universe. Gwent was a mini-game in The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt. I loved it then, but it's finally available on Android. Gwent lets you choose from different decks with their own strengths and weaknesses. You don't have to drain your health pool like Hearthstone. Your goal is to score as many points as possible at the end. The winner is the player who has won two rounds. Each card has its own point value and you earn points. But there's more. You can attack your opponent and deplete their point pool by destroying the cards of their opponents. You'll do the same to them. Sometimes you will need to lose to preserve your deck for next round. This is a tactic that I love. Gwent is available for free (and it's a great download! Gwent is available for free with in-app purchase. You also have the option to purchase in-app purchases.

Gwent It began as a minigame within The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt. Then, it was spun out into its own entity. Gwent for Android is an amazing game and must-have for all Witcher fans. Google Play Store: Free with IAPs

Hearthstone

It doesn't take much to introduce Hearthstone. It is a hugely popular card-battling game that takes place in the World of Warcraft universe. This game has basically ushered in digital, free-to-play, digital collectible card games. The game has been around since 2014 and many expansion packs have been released. This can make it a little overwhelming for beginners. It's a 1v1 match where your goal is to reduce your opponent's health pool. You can choose from a range of cards to defend or win your deck. Although it's an easy concept, the game allows for some very creative strategies. It's more profitable to spend money on building your deck. However, you can still start the game for free and go through the tutorial levels to find out if it's right for you. Although it's not for everyone I have invested a lot of time in this game.

Legends of Runeterra

Legends of Runeterra was Hearthstone's biggest competitor. This collectible card game works very similar to Hearthstone but is set in the League of Legends universe. This is a 1v1 game in which your goal is depleting your opponent's health pool. Instead of having one turn as in Hearthstone and Gwent, each player receives an attack round and a defense round. Each card comes with its own attack, health, and special abilities. Spell cards can also have different speeds (some are instant while others take a few turns). These spell cards can be used to cast healing spells or barrier spells. Legends of Runeterra offers a wide range of deck designs and strategies. If you are tired of Hearthstone, then give Legends of Runeterra another chance. You'll also find microtransactions which can be quite exhausting. It's just how it is.

Legends of Runeterra - If League of Legends appeals more to you than Warcraft, but Hearthstone is your favorite, Legends of Runeterra might be for you. Google Play Store: Free with IAPs

Magic: The Gathering Arena

Magic: the Gathering Arena, one of the most beloved card games of all time, is experiencing a revival. Magic: the Gathering, a collectible card-game, allows players to take the role of a Planeswalker. They then compete with other players using spells, equipment, artifacts, and summoning creatures from their respective decks. A player usually wins when their opponent's life total is reduced to 0. Magic: the Gathering cards are often based on mythological and fantasy themes such as dragons and angels and vampires. MTG Arena puts all this action in your hands, with stunning graphics, vibrant animations and great sound design. MTG Arena is a great place to learn Magic. The tutorial levels are a great way to get started. You can unlock cards and decks by simply playing. However, the free-to-play game has in-app purchases that allow you to purchase booster packs or other items just like in real life. This is a great thing! Give it a shot today!

Microsoft Solitaire Collection

Microsoft made Solitare a household brand by including it in every Windows version since 1990. The Microsoft Solitaire Collection includes the Klondike version, Free Cell, Spider and Tri Peaks. Sure brings you back, huh? You can remove ads by paying a monthly or annual subscription. Daily challenges are available, keeping the gameplay fresh. You can also link your Xbox Live account to earn achievements, compete against friends, and more. This game is sure to appeal to anyone who grew up playing Solitaire on Windows XP. Reigns: Her Majesty

Reigns is a card-based single-player game. You play as a monarch, making decisions that impact four areas of the kingdom, the church, people, army and royal wealth. You must keep them all in balance. If any meter is full or completely depleted, you lose your reign and begin a new one. Her Majesty 2 is almost identical to the original game. However, this sequel lets you play as Queens and has multiple storylines and characters. Reigns: There is a lot of replayability in Her Majesty. You'll be able to maintain your reign for as long as possible by using the inventory system and challenging you. It's silly and fun, so I recommend it highly.

Reigns; Her Majesty This is the sequel to Reigns. Reigns. Her Majesty swaps with Queens. Rule your land and ensure that your rule lasts as long as possible. Google Play Store: $3

RWBY Amity Arena

RWBY enthusiasts also have Amity Arena, their own card game. You collect cards to build your deck, min/max until satisfied, then you can compete with other players to show that you are better than the rest. The matchmaking was a bit sloppy and the in-app purchase system is a little too expensive. You can spend more money to get stronger cards that you can use in battle. It's very simple and requires less strategy than other games. It's designed for RWBY enthusiasts (a fandom that I don't belong too), so it will probably be a good fit for you.

Shards of Infinity

Shards of Infinity, another deckbuilder, is a beautiful game of card games with a cool premise. You earn cards while you play and you make the most of each situation. This also means that every game is different, which is something you'd like in a game such as this. It is your goal to be the last person standing in a free for all. Shards of Infinity is complex, just like other games. You can choose to play cards in one of four factions. Mercenary cards can also be used for added effects. The games last approximately half an hour. Android users can enjoy both online and local multiplayer as well as an AI mode that allows for solo play. If you love deckbuilders, it's great fun and well worth the price.

Shards of Infinity Another great deckbuilder, Shards of Infinity feels almost like a sequel of Ascension. It's a fun game with a great premise. $8 on Google Play Store

Shelter Free

Shelter Free is a combination of deck-building card games with castle defense strategy. The world is overrun by zombies when you wake up. You must fight them off in order to escape the danger zone. You will encounter hazards and battle other zombies with powerful decks. You will be captivated by the graphic novel art style and intense card battles. Although it's easy to learn, you can easily spend hours mastering the game.

Take down the Spire

I am happy to introduce Slay the Spire to you if you have missed out on one of the most popular card-based games in recent years. Slay the Spire is a deck-building roguelike that gives you a few playable characters with various specialties and an ever-changing goal to beat. You must climb the Spire to defeat all enemies. This is done by creating your deck. It can include basic attack and defense cards as well as more specialized cards that can give buffs and de-buffs. You will be rewarded with new cards for winning battles. However, it is crucial that you carefully weigh every card in your deck to maintain a winning balance. You'll find powerful relics as you move along, which can help you in your trials. But don't expect to get the exact same relics every time. Each run will bring about a change in the spire layout, as well as the type and order of the enemies you'll face, where your merchant is and where you might find the relics. You must experiment and fail to succeed in this puzzle. That's part of the adventure! Slay the Spire has been ported to mobile devices earlier this year. It costs $9.99. The title is worth the time and money. Ten bucks is not a lot compared to the hours you'll spend playing this game.

Star Realms

Source: Google Play Store

Star Realms is all about simplicity. It's simple to grasp, the gameplay is easy, and deckbuilding is still a lot of fun. Star Realms is a card game that has been around for a while, and it ranks second to Gwent as my favorite Android game. Star Realms can be played by two players. Each player starts the game with one money card and one attack card. You have two options: you can use your money to buy a card from your deck, or attack your opponent directly. To boost your health, you can also purchase armor later. Star Realms is easy to learn, but there are hidden complexities that keep Star Realms interesting. The Android version is quite good, and allows you to do things that aren't possible in the physical game like battle AI or campaign missions. You can play against other players online, battle AI difficulties and get new campaign missions and leaderboards. You can also purchase a lot more content.

Star Realms This deckbuilder can be very easy to learn and use, but it also offers stealthy complexity. If you love this version, you will want to buy the full version. Get the full version free with IAPs from Google Play Store

Uno

Uno! Uno! was a regular game night fixture in our household as a child, just like it was for millions of other families. It is a cultural icon. It is based on Crazy Eights rules, where you must play the same colour or suit card as your last one to eliminate all your cards. This mobile version is Uno! This mobile version of Uno! offers the best execution of core gameplay. There are many ways to play with friends in Fun Room. You can also play with your own house rules. It also has in-game currencies and microtransactions that are known to be a problem for mobile games. It doesn't stop Uno, however! It's a great time, especially for a quick round. You can also play 2v2 with your friend and take on another pair. To show off your Uno skills, you can also participate in tournaments. You can also join tournaments to show off your Uno! You can even use voice chat to shout "UNO" when your goal is near.

Uno! Uno!, another classic card game, is now available on Android. This is a mobile version of this cultural icon. Although it does contain some freemium nonsense and is not as fun as the original, it's still an enjoyable experience, especially for those who grew up with the game. Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Links

Despite being an older game, Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links is still very popular in today's gaming environment. It's supported Konami. I didn't believe it would work, but it did. The monetization is standard for card games these day, but the gameplay itself is very good. When I was a child, Yu-Gi-Oh was my gateway into Magic: The Gathering. I stopped playing Pokemon because I was too old for it, so Yu-Gi-Oh is a game I still fondly remember. Duel Links captures the essence of playing with paper cards well. You can collect your cards, create your decks and defeat your opponents (both AI or real people). Duel Links offers a lot of fun and entertainment, and Yu-Gi-Oh lovers will find plenty to enjoy.
