Manchester City's second goal of the season, Bernardo Silva, was scored by Bernardo Silva. His first was against Leicester last month.
Raheem Sterling couldn't score a goal on his return to Manchester City's starting team, but Kevin de Bruyne ensured his side beat Burnley after Bernardo Silva scored an early goal.
City had won 5-0 each Clarets' previous four visits to Etihad Stadium, and it looked like another score was in the cards when Silva added to Phil Foden's shot for the home team to take an early lead.
However, there was not a glut of goals at this match. City was in possession, creating plenty of chances but they couldn't extend their advantage. This gave the visitors hope.
Burnley gave them a few problems before De Bruyne scored a second goal 20 minutes later. He smashed his shot into the box when the ball was broken to him.
Sterling only made his third league start for the season after being recalled at week's end. He had spoken publicly about wanting to move abroad if he didn't get more City game time.
While playing as City's central attacker, he struggled to make an impact during the first half. He managed only 11 touches, the lowest among all their outfield players, and one shot which was blocked.
Sterling was much more involved after the break when he switched to left flank. However, he was unable to add another league goal in 2021-22 so De Bruyne was forced to complete the game.
City moves up to second, one point behind Liverpool. Burnley remains in the bottom three, despite not having won a league game this season.

Burnley's winless streak of 11 games, the longest in England's top 4 divisions, could not be ended by them, but it gave City plenty to consider.
Maxwel Cornet saw Zack Steffen save his shot after running clear. Josh Brownhill was also close to equalising his shot in the first half.
City were also struggling, with Riyad Maharez another player failing to make the most out of his recall. His four attempts at goal came up short when he attacked another Silva cut-back in the face of the bar.
If not for De Bruyne’s cool ending after Burnley failed their lines, it could have been a nerve-wracking finale for City's fans.
This allowed home fans to celebrate the win of Leicester over City's neighbours United, something they did loudly.
Dyche believes Burnley would prefer a'scruffy win" at the moment.
