How our startup boosted productivity with ‘get s*** done’ day – TechCrunch

We realized during the pandemic that we were overwhelmed with work and overloaded by information. We came up with a solution.
Travelpayouts plans a strategy for one year. Each team then plans iterations for each quarter. Within a quarter, we plan two weeks in advance. This way, each day propels the company toward its goals.

Unexpected challenges and tasks can arise in every area of the organization on a daily basis. Managers can become overwhelmed by meetings, which can affect their productivity. It is therefore not surprising that some tasks fall short of deadlines, and accumulate over time.

We introduced a Getting Shit Done Day to improve productivity. Employees set clear goals and are given specific tasks. There is little communication involved. Although we encourage employees to not use social media, we don't look over their shoulders. The goal of GSDD, which is a one-day per week program to reduce distractions, is to increase time spent in deep work.

We have seen some results after two months of using the GSDD to test our business development and marketing departments. Long-term projects that took weeks to complete before were now completed earlier. We were also able to explore topics we had never explored: monetizing our traffic via affiliate programs, effective outreach methods and email marketing best practice.

We have been able to tackle tasks previously overlooked by the GSDD.
