Jodie Whittakers remarkable run as Doctor Who's title star is over, but it's not too late. It's going to be a tough fight!

There's still one season (albeit a short one) of TV to go, as well as three special episodes, before she passes the torch to... whoever is next. Let's not fret about the torch-passing yet. The trailer for Doctor Who: Flux, her final six-episode season (thanks to covid), has just arrived.
The Flux will bring the Sontarans, Weeping Angels and other enemies to the universe. As the teaser indicated, it appears like our heroes are up for a tough battle... and Cybermen! There are many villains to choose from!
Whittakers is not the only one who will be leaving Doctor Who's 13th season. As previously announced, Chris Chibnall, series veteran Russell T. Davies and showrunner Chris Chibnall, will also be departing the show. Davies was responsible for the revival of Doctor Who in 2005. His 2023 return coincides perfectly with the 60th anniversary Doctor Who. The BBC promises an explosive return, but the consequences of this will depend on the Doctor Who fan you are asking.
Doctor Who: Flux will, however, be billed as an episodic event serial. This means that it will follow one story through six episodes. Whittakers Timelord and Yaz (Mandip Gill) will join Whittakers Time Lord, as well as newcomer John Bishop. It is almost entirely written and directed by Azhur Saleem and Jamie Magnus Stone. Maxine Alderton has one co-writing credit. It will premiere on Halloween night on BBC America.
