Hannah Gadsby has just scorched Earth over Netflix's honcho Dave Chappelle's controversial stand-up special, "The Closer".
After Ted Sarandos brought up her name in the discussion about Netflix's efforts to "ensure that marginalized communities aren’t defined by one story," the comedian from Australia jumped on Ted Sarandos.
Sarandos stated, "So now we have Sex Education', 'Orange Is The New Black', 'Control Z' Hannah Gadsby, and Dave Chappelle all available on Netflix. This is due to the diversity of the content team.
Hannah's reaction is basically, "Keep my name outta you mouth", and she's throwing a few jabs at Dave as well. Hannah says, "Hey Ted Sarandos! Just a quick note to say that I would prefer you not to drag my name into this mess. I now have to deal even more with the hatred and anger that Dave Chappelles' fans like to unleash upon me every time he gets 20 million dollars for processing his partial world view.
Hannah was a big hit after her 2018 Netflix specials "Nanette", "Douglas"... but obviously didn't get Chappelle dough.
Hannah says, "You didnt pay enough to deal the real world consequences for the hate speech dog whistling Ted refuses to acknowledge. F**k you and the amoral algorithm group I belong to, Ted. It's a joke. You just said there was one.
Hannah also mentioned -- we assume for Chappelle fans -- that she has seen all of "The Closer" but added, "Leave us alone."
Sarandos stated that Netflix was not pulling Chappelle's special off the platform, because its transphobic images don't "directly relate to real-world harm."
