Deontay Wilder says he proved he is 'a true warrior and a true king' in Tyson Fury defeat

In his epic third fight against Fury, Wilder was knocked out three times
Deontay Wilder stated that he has proven he is a "true fighter and a true monarch" and congratulated Tyson Fury following his defeat by the British boxer during Saturday's Las Vegas trilogy fight.

Fury stopped the 35-year old after twice knocking the Briton down in the 11th round.

Wilder said, "I would lie if I said I wasn't disappointed."

"I have learned that sometimes you need to lose in order to win."

The American posted on Instagram that he had "proved that I am a true Warrior" and that he is a true King of the sport. We have shown that no matter what trials or tribulations life throws at you, you can still rise up and fight for the cause you believe in.

Wilder also congratulated Fury, his first congratulations since Saturday's fight.

He stated: "Last, but not least, I would like to felicitate @gypsyking101 and thank you all for the wonderful historical memories that will endure forever."

The fight ended after a heated fight week in which both fighters brutally berated one another.

Fury retained his WBC World Heavyweight title. He said that he believed they fought it out there.

"I approached him to shake his hand, and he said, "No, I don’t respect you." You can't say that I cheated, when your entire team and you know you have been beaten.

"He's a loser. I'm certain he's not first and won't last."
