Canada's woman woke up in shock when a rock smashed through her ceiling and hit her bed. It narrowly missed her, but landed on her face. Her dog yelped frantically.
Police were summoned and initially the suspect was a nearby construction site, where the projectile must have been launched onto the pillow of the woman. The Canadian Press reported that after the workers claimed they hadn't set any explosions, but only saw an explosion in the sky, consensus quickly emerged that the rock was a meteorite.
Ruth Hamilton was fast asleep in Golden, British Columbia on the Rocky Mountains. On 3 October, her dog started barking. She awoke to a start.
She said that she had never felt so afraid in her life. I didn't know what to do so I dialed 911. I saw that a rock had fallen between my pillows as I was talking with the operator.
It turned out that there was a meteorite cloud in the sky above the western Canadian region on the night. Hamilton is determined to keep the space rock, and she is relieved that she was not injured.
She said that I was shocked and that I just sat there for several hours shaking. I'm pretty thankful to be alive, as the odds of this happening are very slim.
