The culprit may finally be found by meteorologists

New Hampshire was rocked by an earth-shattering boom on Sunday morning. Experts and residents were left baffled by the statewide event.
According to The New York Times, meteorologists now believe they know the cause of the boom. Satellite imagery suggests that the explosion could have been caused by a meteor that flew over New Hampshire. It would be the final answer to the mystery that has been causing confusion among New Hampshirites online.
Ruled out
Futurism noted that the U.S. Geological Survey did not find any evidence of earthquakes in the area during the seven days preceding the event. While it is possible for an earthquake to have occurred and not been picked up by the U.S. Geological Survey, this seemed to rule out any other explanation.
An exploding meteor makes sense, however. The Orionids as well as Draconids meteor showers continue at the moment, according to the NYT. This makes it a busy season for flybys. Meteorologists from the National Weather Service (NWS), began to search for bolides. These are fireballs caused by meteors exploding or fragmenting in the atmosphere.

According to Greg Cornwell, a NWS meteorologist, there was indeed a blip right around the time people started reporting on the sound. Cornwell explained this to the NYT.
Case open
The meteor hypothesis is not a certain thing, just as the possibility of an earthquake. It is possible that the satellite that detected the explosion made an error or it could just have happened by chance. It seems like the best explanation that experts have at this point.
Cornwell explained to the NYT that there have been instances where these exploding fireballs and bolides can cause false positives. It was evident in the data and it is a guess.
