HTC’s new headset has leaked and it’ll make you look like a bug

I reported on Monday about the leaked details of the HTC Vive FlowVR headset. It is expected to be unveiled at an event this Thursday. We now have the images of the HTC Vive Flow VR headset thanks to Evan Blass, a prolific leaker who has been posting photos throughout the evening. A slide from a recent tweet states that the device will retail for $499 and begin shipping in November.
Here's the first batch.

Although the Blass tweets match some of Protocol's Monday details, they provide a better idea of the final device. The leaked promo makes the wearers look like insects. Although it is difficult to see if the large yellowish areas on the headset's front are transparent, you can look closer and see that there could be cameras in there.

First leaked photos suggest that the headset will be connected via a wire to a tube-shaped device. This will provide power for the headset, similar to the original Magic Leap. Blass also leaked another set of images showing that the headset does indeed have internal processing.

These images of Vive Flow don't show a head strap. The majority of headsets people feel comfortable wearing balance their weight with some type of strap. We will have to test the Vive Pro to see if HTC has found a way to make it more pleasant to wear without one.

The headset is very similar to HTC's Project Proton in that it has a similar buggy-eyed design to the new headset and can be tethered with a pack. Although it is not clear if the Vive Flow will be the final retail version of the Proton, it does seem like a strong possibility.

You don't have to wait long if you want to know more about the Vive Flow. The company has teased a brief glimpse at what would be revealed there. While it is difficult to determine if the renders from Blass match the HTC leaks, it certainly looks like a VR headset.
