MacBook Pro Models Said to Start at 16GB RAM and 512GB Storage, Feature Upgraded 1080p Webcams and New Charging Brick

The MacBook-centric Apple event is now scheduled for Monday, October 18. Leakers have begun to share some new details about the machines that we hadn't heard before.

Dylandkt reports that the base 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models will have 16GB RAM and 64GB storage, respectively, as compared to the high-end 13-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro options.

He has stated that the new MacBook Pro models will feature an upgraded 1080p Webcam and that the M1X chip with 10-core CPU will be the same in both sizes.

Dylandkt claims that Apple will offer a new charging brick. This is not surprising considering the upcoming devices are rumored have a MagSafe charging port. This would require new charging hardware.

We have previously heard that the MacBook Pro models will be equipped with mini-LED displays and smaller bottom logos. Pricing is expected to be comparable between the two sizes. The price gap between the 14-inch and 16 inch options will be "much narrower" than those of the high-end MacBook Pro models that are 13 and 16 inches.

Ross Young, a display analyst, stated earlier today that the new MacBook Pro models could have a 120Hz refresh speed for the mini-LED monitors. Dylandkt claimed that 120Hz was being tested on a Mac prototype earlier this year but that he doesn't know when it will be available.

We will announce the full details of the new MacBook Pro models at 14-inch and 16 inches next Monday. Until then, you can find our MacBook Pro guide with a summary of all the rumors that we have heard.
