Teemu Pukki broke Jari Lithmanen's 11 year-old record in 39 games or less

Teemu Pukki scored two goals to break Jari Litmanen’s international goals record for Finland's World Cup qualifying win over Kazakhstan.

Pukki, the Norwich forward, scored in each half to bring his international total to 33. This is one more than former Barcelona and Ajax playermaker.

Litmanen scored in his last 137 Finnish games in 2010 while Pukki earned 98 caps for Finland.

This result places Finland in the same Group D as second-placed Ukraine.

France is currently leading the two nations by four points. A play-off could be their best chance of reaching the 2022 finals at Qatar.
