Today, Infiniti announced that many of its 2020 and later vehicles will be eligible for a free upgrade to wireless CarPlay in America.
According to Infiniti, the free software update is available from now through March 31, 2022 for 2020 and 2021 models Q50, Q60 and QX50. To have the update completed, owners of these vehicles should schedule an appointment with an Infiniti dealer.
Infiniti also offers wireless CarPlay on 2022 models of its Q50, Q60 and QX55.
Infiniti, the luxury Japanese brand Nissan's automaker Nissan, was late adopters of CarPlay. Eric Slivka, MacRumors' editor-in-chief, reviewed wired CarPlay in Infiniti's 2020 QX50 last Year and found that the vehicle is now eligible to receive a complimentary wireless CarPlay upgrade.
Wireless CarPlay connects an iPhone to the infotainment system via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. Infiniti joins a long line of automakers who have adopted wireless CarPlay, including Hyundai and Acura, Ford, GM Chrysler, Ford, Acura, Acura, Honda, Acura and Mitsubishi.
