Michael Gerson, a former speechwriter for President George W. Bush, predicted that Donald Trump would win the 2024 election and return to the White House in a nightmare scenario.
Gerson wrote Monday that Trump has become more familiar with the seditious forces that he unleashed Jan. 6, and that he is now open to absurd conspiracy theories. Gerson pointed out that Trump's support has grown in the GOP since Trump's departure.
Gerson, who has long criticized Trump, imagined a leader with unrestrained power, who could use the police and military to attack political rivals and change election results.
