Beginning November 1, Thailand will accept fully vaccinated travelers without quarantine.
Thailand is a leader in tourism recovery, thanks to the success of the Phuket Sandbox. This model has been used by many countries. The Thailand government announced plans to ease restrictions and rebuild livelihoods in order to make it easier for tourists to enjoy their long-awaited holiday without being quarantined.
Only the visitor will need to prove that they are free from COVID at the time they travel.
Quarantine-free travel will be possible starting with at least 10 countries that are on the low-risk, non-quarantine list. This includes the United Kingdom of Great Britain, Singapore, Germany and China. It will continue to expand over the months.
Prayuth Chanocha, Thailand's Prime Minister, acknowledged that there is some risk in this decision. It is necessary to take this risk in order to revitalize the country's tourism industry.
Prayuth said that Thailand would allow entertainment venues to reopen by December 1st and permit alcohol sales.
Thailand is known for its beaches and lively nightlife. It welcomed 70,000 tourists during the first eight months of this year. This is way less than the 40 million visitors expected to visit the country in 2019.
