Memphis Depay scored 14 international goals in 2021. This is more than any Netherlands player in one calendar year.

Memphis Depay scored twice in the Netherlands' easy win over Gibraltar during their World Cup qualifier at Rotterdam.

Virgil van Dijk, Liverpool's captain, made a ninth-minute turn for the opener.

Depay saw the first of the two penalties in the first half saved, but was tapped in by Davy Klaassen's pass. He converted a spot-kick just before break.

Denzel Dumfries nodded during the fourth, Arnaut Dajuma moved in the fifth, and Donyell Malen scored in the final minutes.

After 31 unsuccessful attempts at goal, the Dutch have scored four or more goals in three consecutive home matches for the first time since Oct 2001.

Louis van Gaal's team is still two points ahead of Norway at Group G's top, with Turkey in third.
