Jamal Musiala scored the first goal for Germany in his ninth cap

With a crushing win in North Macedonia, Germany was the first to join Qatar as hosts at the 2022 World Cup.

Jamal Musiala, a former England youth international, opened his account for Germany. He ran in on goal and finished confidently.

Kai Havertz scored the first goal of the second period, scoring from Thomas Muller’s unselfish pass.

Timo Werner won the second after Muller's brilliant flick. He also earned a wonderful third.

The Germans could have scored more but Werner, a Chelsea forward, smashed the post with a low drive at the half-way mark. However, Werner managed to score twice for his side as he achieved clinical finishing in the second period.

Ex-Chelsea academy student Musiala (18) will remember the night. He played for 19 different England youth teams, but decided to play for Germany through his mother. Musiala scored his first senior goal with his ninth cap.

Four-time world champions Hansi Flick's team reach the tournament for 20th time, with Brazil (21) being the only country to have appeared more.

They won with just two games left, and will be meeting with Liechtenstein or Armenia next month.
