I’ve got a feeeeeeeling… It’ll be Bills & Bolts in AFC title game

The collision between the L.A. Chargers and Buffalo Bills could lead to an AFC Championship Game matchup in January. These teams are still at the top of their conference after their Week 5 performances.

On Sunday, Buffalo traveled to Kansas City and gave the Chiefs a lot more than they could handle. Josh Allen completed only 57% of his passes but still threw 3 touchdowns and ran for another against K.C. Allen made the most of a weak Chiefs defense. I'm just being kind; the Chiefs defense is not performing well. They can be successful when the offense is firing. But if it plays like it did against the Bills, then the Chiefs will be in serious trouble.

I don't know what happened to the Chiefs offense. The light switch that I have talked about previously was not working last night. Patrick Mahomes was the one to throw the ball 54 times during this game. It's hard to keep up with the run when you are down early, but 54 pass attempts? The Chiefs were held to just 20 points by the Bills defense, and three Mahomes turnovers were forced by them.

The Chargers fought back against the Cleveland Browns, but L.A. came out on top 47-42. Justin Herbert was a worthy MVP candidate, passing for 398 yards with five total touchdowns (4 air, 1 ground) against the Browns defense. If the Chargers had not lost the game against the Cowboys, and had two penalties called back on them, they would be at 5-0 now.

Through five weeks, these two 4-1 teams have been the class of conference. Both teams have young quarterbacks who are playing like MVP candidates. They have enough support to be able to make a run for the title this season. They don't have a regular season meeting this year so we will have to wait until after the playoffs for a Bolts - Bills matchup. With these QBs & offenses, it looks increasingly like the AFC Championship Game.

Although there is still much to be done, these Chargers & Bills have been a great example for me. As we all know, the NFL is a great place to play in every aspect of the game. The chances of a team winning a title are slim if it doesn't have a franchise quarterback. On Monday Night Football, the Ravens are at 4-1 against the Colts. I still see a scoreboard in the AFC with BUF or LAC.
