Babies have more bone than adults
One of the most common myths is that a person can have 206 bones. It is true that most adults have around this number. It is impossible to know how many you have because a lot of them can be found in tiny bones, such as the sesamoids that are located in your finger joints.
But what about babies? Even more bones are found in babies. An average baby has 300 bones. Because many of the bones that appear to be one in an adult are actually several separate bones joined by cartilage in small children, there are about 300 bones in a baby. For example, the skull is a soft spot for babies. This cartilage is between the head bones and has not yet fused.
