In a video, former President Donald Trump wishes deceased Capitol rioter Ashlibabbit a happy birthday and calls for the Department of Justice's reopening of its investigation into her death.

According to Ford Fischer of News2Share, the video was apparently played at the Texas Loves Ashlibabbitt rally, which was held in Freeport, Texas. Fischer confirmed to Insider that the event was attended by him personally.

Babbitt, a veteran Air Force officer and endorser of QAnon conspiracy theories, was shot and killed by a US Capitol Police Officer when she tried to enter a door leading to the House of Representatives. Trump stated in the video that it was a "horrible" day.

"Together we mourn her terrible loss. It was wrong for Ashli to lose her life on that fateful day. We all must demand justice for Ashli, her family, and so, on this solemn occasion, as we celebrate her death, we renew our call to a fair, impartial investigation into Ashli's death," Trump stated in the video.

The DOJ launched an investigation into Babbitt’s death. In April, it concluded that the unnamed Capitol Police officer responsible for her death acted in self defense and defense of other members of Congress.

According to a memo from Capitol Police obtained by NBC News, the officer was exonerated in August.
