The news release stated that police arrived on the scene at 12:15 a.m. to find 15 victims of gunshot wounds. They also "worked together with good Samaritans" to provide assistance. A total of 14 people were taken to local hospitals. One woman, who was in her 20s, died.
Steve Linders, spokesperson for St. Paul Police, told WCCO-TV that "I can only describe this as hellish." "I think about that young woman who was killed. She's having fun, then she's in pain. Then she lies in her friends arms, trying to save her life. There is nothing worse than that."
Melvin Carter, Mayor of St. Paul, stated that the shooting had "devastated" the community.
In an update, the Saint Paul Police Department stated that three people were arrested in connection to the shooting.
Police say the men are being treated at the hospital and will be released to go to Ramsey City jail "to await a charge decision."
