How to Join FaceTime Calls on Any Device

Apple's FaceTime app will soon be available on more devices, as we all spend more time video calling. You can now join FaceTime calls using a web browser with this year's rollouts of iOS 15, iPadOS 15 and macOS Monterey. This will allow you to open them up to Windows and Android users.
Apple doesn't allow users to make FaceTime calls using non-Apple devices. FaceTime doesn't have an official app for Android, or any similar feature. It is a web interface that can be accessed from any device with a browser.

You'll also notice improvements to FaceTime with the latest iOS, iPadOS and macOS software. It's easy to join calls on any device. However, the most important change is the ability for anyone to make calls.

Start FaceTime calls

To actually launch FaceTime calls, you will need an iPhone, iPad or Mac. You can't use Android or Windows to start one yet. Instead of entering an email address or number to establish contact, load FaceTime on your Apple device.

The next screen will give you a range of options to share this link. Tap Add name to give it an official name. It's possible to copy the link to the clipboard or to send it to other apps like Messages or Mail. It will still be visible on the FaceTime app's front screen, so it can be shared later if necessary.

Anybody you give this link will be able join your FaceTime chat. There is no password protection or login, but you can approve any requests to join the call. You can delete any link you have created by clicking the info button beside it and choosing Delete Link.

To join the call, tap the link that you have created and then choose Join. If other participants follow the link that you have shared, you will see a pop up asking you if you would like to admit them. If someone follows the link after you have initiated the call, you will see a holding page and an alert stating that they are trying to join.
