His words were condemned by the White House and gay and transgender rights organizations, and he was asked to resign.

According to multiple outlets, these words are offensive and repugnant. Leaders are expected to unite people and defend the dignity and rights, and not spread hatred or undermine their office.

Robinson's statement was called disgraceful by the Human Rights Campaign and he should resign.

Robinson is not the only one to have expressed his discriminatory views. But, it should be the last time that he does it as an elected leader. HRC released a statement. These dehumanizing remarks are unacceptable to North Carolinians. This incident confirms the urgent need for comprehensive anti-discrimination laws that would ban discrimination and make North Carolina safer for LGBTQ+ people.

In recent weeks, school administrators, parents, as well as government officials, have been arguing over how parental control is exercised over school affairs. Over the past year, parents have been more vocal in their opposition to critical race theory being taught in schools and the use of school masks mandates. This has led to the Department of Justice announcing earlier this week that it will work with the Federal Bureau of Investigation in order to address threats to teachers and school board members.

Robinson was elected for the first time in 2020. In the past, Robinson has been headlined for making other comments, including claiming that President Joe Biden is turning the United States into "a socialist hellhole."
