Andy Murray currently ranks 121st worldwide
Andy Murray won his Indian Wells Masters first round match with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Adrian Mannarino.

Briton, 34, broke Mannarino's left-handed serve three times on his way to a convincing win.

In the second round, Murray will face Carlos Alcaraz, a Spanish teenager.

"I believed my mentality was positive. I fought for every point. Murray stated that this was my goal going into the match, and it won me the victory.

"It's been 4 years since I last came here. It's a great place to play tennis on ATP Tour.

"It was a difficult road to get back, and it was so nice to have so many people come out to support me today. It was a great experience.

Murray won the US Open in his first appearance since the thrilling loss to Stefanos Tisipas at the US Open. He was given a wildcard for this tournament and won the match in just one hour 24 minutes.

Mannarino is ranked 51st worldwide. He was broken by Mannarino to take a 4-2 lead in set one. Then he won the second set when his 33-year old opponent attempted a smash.

Murray won the first set with a forehand win and earned the crucial break. Mannarino lost a game in the last game because Mannarino dropped a shot.

Murray, 18 years old, was able to meet Alcaraz after his win.

Murray said, "I think Alcaraz's really, really great." Murray said, "I believe he has a good chance at that."

Murray solves mystery of the wedding ring

Andy Murray created a video appeal to find his wedding ring.

Murray entered the match "back on the good books" at his home, having lost his tennis shoes and wedding rings in Indian Wells.

To dry out after practice, the British three-time Grand Slam champion had placed them under the car that he and his team use in California.

Murray shared how he finally found the items after discovering that they were missing the following day. He initially believed they had been stolen.

"After we realized they were, let’s say, misplaced, or someone had moved them," he said. He explained that they said nothing.

"I spoke with security. They claimed they had not found anything. They said they had nothing. I thought, "Well, they're gone." To try and get them back, I was going to file an officer report.

"I spoke to the hotel and explained what I was doing. They took my details, including the details of my shoes and ring, and took me to the carpark to ask where I was parked.

"I asked them to look at the cameras. They returned an hour later. They were found in the lost and found by one of the staff at the hotel. They were able to retrieve them, which was a good thing.

Andy Murray tied his wedding ring to the soles of his trainer shoes during training

Murray joked that Kim understood him losing the wedding band and said that he had a previous form in this area.

He said, "My wife is very laid back with this kind of stuff so it [the discussion with her] wasn't too bad."

"Once I used to swim in a pool, and the ring could slide off if my hands got cold. It was gone and my physio who had swum to British level, returned to the pool to search for it.

"So, I have almost lost it quite some times, but it always finds its path back to me somehow."
