Dear readers, there is a reason. The Series 7's improvement this year is the faster charging time. Apple claims that the Series 7 charges 33% faster than previous models and can reach 80% in just 45 minutes. This is great news for people like me who only use their Apple Watch to go to the gym or burn baby fat. It's not the worst thing to discover your watch is low on battery before you head out.

Fast charging is only available to those who purchase Apple's USB-C magnetic fast charge with the Series 7. This charger has a new charging architecture. This cable is included in your box. However, it does not look like older cables so you will need to know how to distinguish them to get the charging speed you expect.

This does not mean that the Series 7 will not charge if it is connected to an older Apple Watch charger. This does not mean that the Series 7 will not be able use fast charging. You can also use the USB fast charging cable with older Apple Watch models. However, they will charge at regular speeds. The Series 6 can be fully charged in less than an hour.

Apple does not want you to be confused so it has decided to discontinue selling the old watch chargers via its website. Fast chargers are now available for $29. The Verge points out that old Apple Watch chargers can still be purchased on third-party sites such as Amazon. This is not a cause to panic, but it is important to know that your current chargers will not work with the Series 7s offerings.
