Artist impression of Pendraig Milnerae, James Robbins' earliest theropod dinosaur in the UK.
Fossils from a small, meat-eating dinosaur found in a quarry near Cardiff are the earliest evidence of theropods in the UK. This group of dinosaurs includes T. rex and Velociraptor, as well as all birds.
The animal was named Pendraig millnerae. It lived 200 to 215 million years ago during the Late Triassic Epoch. The fossil was found in a quarry named Pant-y-ffynnon, north-west Cardiff, in the 1950s.
