Mikel Arteta was the mastermind of Arsenal's 3-1 victory over Tottenham on 26/09/09.
After leading Arsenal to three consecutive victories, Mikel Arteta was named Premier League Manager of the Month for September.
After starting the season with three consecutive defeats, the Gunners defeated Burnley, Norwich and Tottenham to lift themselves out of the relegation zone.
Arteta, 39, said, "It's great feeling. It means that we went on an excellent run and won matches."
Cristiano Ronaldo of Manchester United won the player-of-the-month award.
Ronaldo, 36, scored three goals his first two league matches after he returned to United from Juventus.
After drawing with Brighton, Arsenal sits 11th on the table. Arteta said that the award was "about the people involved", and that he is grateful to all those who helped him.
The Spaniard won the award over Pep Guardiola from Manchester City, Jurgen Klopp from Liverpool, Graham Potter of Brighton, Dean Smith of Aston Villa and Jurgen Klopp of Liverpool.
Arteta made 150 appearances as an Arsenal player during his five-year tenure. He was named Unai Emery’s successor in December 2019. The club won the FA Cup five years later.
Arsenal, which has finished eighth in the Premier League's two previous seasons, will be back in action against Crystal Palace on 18 October. Crystal Palace is managed by Patrick Vieira, a former Gunners captain.
Ronaldo defeated Joao Cancelo from Manchester City, Chelsea, Antonio Rudiger, Liverpool's Mohamed Salah, and Watford's Ismaila Sarr for the Players' Award.
